Kim Kyung-mo, professionally known as DPR CREAM, made his anticipated comeback with his new single “savage” on April 12. The single is from his upcoming album psyche: red releasing on May 3rd. DPR CREAM is widely known for his music production. He has produced for artists like DPR IAN, Beenzino, BIG Naughty and BTS.
From my own analysis of the “savage” lyrics, the opening lines “How am I? Am I feeling alright?” suggest introspection as Cream questions his state of mind. Throughout the song, Cream seems to be implying that true beauty is internal and is beyond an individual’s external appearance. Someone may look beautiful on the outside, but they could be a horrible person on the inside. People cannot make judgements on a person’s character based on their outside appearance. This realization seems to come from the end of a relationship in the song.
